The launch of the Agility Impact Awards marks an exciting time for the Agile Business Consortium, and one that is particularly personal to me as the Consortium’s Event Lead.
Across the years, I have experienced many traditional awards programmes and ceremonies, but what struck me most when I worked on the 2025 Agile Business Conference, was just how powerful, and important, the stories behind the entries were.
Hearing directly from our awarded organizations, about their challenges, their progress, and the difference they were making within their organizations brought a different perspective for me.
This wasn’t about the “shiny award” at the end of the process (which, of course, is always nice to receive!), but about genuine impact, organizations reshaping how they operate. It was inspiring to see teams and individuals championing change day to day, helping to make things better.
It also became clear to me just how much time, energy, and pride people invest in their work, and how many of these stories might never be shared in a traditional awards ceremony format.
And this is why we continue to do things slightly differently.
How are the Agility Impact Awards different from traditional awards?
Here at the Agile Business Consortium, we don’t have winners.
This concept sounded unusual to me at first, as most awards programmes are built around competition, shortlists, and a final winner. But when I stepped back and reflected on what agility represents, it became clear that this model didn’t quite fit.
Agility isn’t a destination or a fixed achievement, it’s continuous learning, adaptation, and progress. It evolves over time, often in ways that are not linear or predictable.
Removing the term “winners” creates space for honesty and real stories. Very often, traditional awards programmes promote polished case studies that focus purely on outcomes. And while those stories have value, they don’t always reflect the actual reality of change.
The uncertainty, the experimentation, and the times where things didn’t quite go to plan are often missing. But these are the moments where the most meaningful learning happens.
This is the part of the awards I feel most excited about. The Agility Impact Awards are designed to change that.
We want organisations to feel able to share their progress as it is, not as perfectly packaged success stories, but as real experiences others can learn from.
A core principle behind the awards is celebrating progress, not perfection.
What do the Agility Impact Awards recognize?
Progress looks different for every organization. For some, it may be a cultural shift in how teams collaborate. For others, it may be a large-scale transformation across global operations.
Agility is not about being finished, it is about incremental changes, learning, and improving along the way.
Why do the Agility Impact Awards Matter in a changing world?
With the growth of technology, and the change this is bringing to teams and individuals, the ability to react and adapt quickly makes agility essential. But there is also a risk that, for many, the meaning of agility becomes reduced to terminology or frameworks.
That’s not what agility is about.
Which is why, we look at the Agility Impact Awards as a way to create a shared understanding of how agility supports organizations, teams and individuals in practice.
One of the most exciting aspects of our awards programme is the global reach it has. In previous years, we have seen entries from Asia Pacific, United States and across Europe, as well as a range of industries from banking to marketing agencies to manufacturers. Each offering a unique perspective on what agility looks like for their organization.
It’s a place where someone can read a story and think, “We’ve experienced that too.”
That sense of connection helps people feel supported, less isolated and more confident in learning from others’ experiences.
For me, this is what the awards are ultimately about.
Not competition. Not comparison. But progress.
So, my invitation is simple: tell your story. Share your experience so others can learn from it.
