MoSCoW Prioritization Template and Poster
MoSCoW prioritization helps you decide what must be delivered now vs what can wait.

Introduction
MoSCoW prioritization helps you decide what must be delivered now vs what can wait, based on value and necessity within a fixed timeframe.
If everything is a priority, nothing is.
What does MoSCoW Stand For?
MoSCoW is an acronym that stands for:
- M – Must Have: Critical, without this the outcome fails
- S – Should Have: Important, but a workaround exists
- C – Could Have: Valuable, but not necessary
- W – Won’t Have (this time): – Intentionally not included this time
Benefits of MoSCoW Prioritization
- Clear Stakeholder Alignment: This method of prioritization offers a shared, non-technical way of describing what is more important that everyone involved can understand
- Better Resource Allocation: By explicitly defining the absolute necessities (the ‘Must Haves’), teams can channel time, money and talent exactly where if delivers the highest return
- Guaranteed Minimum Viable Product (MVP): By concentrating initially on the Must Haves, teams are ensuring the resulting product is always functional and ready for launch
- Structured Flexibility: Lower priorities (Should Haves and Could Haves) act as buffers and can be dropped without jeopardising the core deliverables if the project is running behind
