Our approach to AI
The Agile Business Consortium is committed to using artificial intelligence (AI) tools responsibly, ethically, and transparently. This statement sets out our position and how we ensure AI is used in a way that reflects our values and serves our members, customers, and partners.
Human in the Lead
Our qualifications, professional guidance, and content are developed and owned by subject matter experts, practitioners, and our team. The knowledge, judgement, and experience of our people underpin everything we produce. Human expertise comes first.
AI tools play a limited supporting role in some areas of our work. Where they are used, it is to assist our team – not to replace their expertise or judgement. All content and outputs are reviewed, verified, and approved by a member of our team before use. We are the human compass.
Where AI may assist
In limited circumstances, AI tools may be used to support our team with tasks such as drafting, research assistance, or routine operational work. In all cases, a member of our team takes responsibility for the final output.
Where AI tools are used, they are typically applied to our own knowledge base, frameworks, and materials — helping our team work more efficiently rather than drawing on unverified external sources. In all cases a member of our team directs, reviews, and takes responsibility for the final output.
Data and privacy
We do not input personal data, confidential customer information, or sensitive organisational data into external AI tools without appropriate safeguards in place.
All use of AI tools by our team is governed by our internal AI Policy, which sets out requirements around data protection, GDPR compliance, and information security. Where AI tools process any personal data, we ensure a lawful basis exists and that appropriate protections are applied.
Our ethical standards
We hold ourselves to the following principles in our use of AI:
- Accountability – responsibility for all work sits with the Consortium and our team, not the tool
- Human oversight – AI outputs are always reviewed and approved by a member of our team
- Transparency – we are open about where and how AI is used in our work
- Fairness – we consider bias and inclusivity in any AI-assisted content or decision-making
- Privacy – we protect personal and organisational data in line with GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018
Third-party AI tools
Some of the platforms and tools we use – including our examination partner systems, learning platforms, and operational software – may incorporate AI features developed by third-party providers. We review these tools to ensure they meet appropriate standards for data protection and ethical use.
