Getting transparent about delegate feedback

We take feedback from the participants of the Agile Business Conference very seriously, and as transparency is a key tenet of Business Agility, we’re sharing that feedback with you. We’re including some of the negative comments too, because that’s part of improving how we do things in general and engaging with our community in particular.
As with many feedback surveys, we received responses from a low percentage of attendees, but it’s enough to give us an indication. Here’s what the survey said:
How likely are you to recommend the Agile Business Conference to someone else?
This is a Net Promoter Score question, and the ideal is for people to score eight or above. 73.5% of people did so, and we’re broadly happy with that, but would like to improve further.
How did you hear about the Agile Business Conference?
Over 50% of participants were previous attendees or heard about the event via the Consortium communications. This tells us that we should spread the word more widely through other channels.
Which type of content session did you find most enjoyable and/or useful?
Case studies were a clear winner here at over 38% with the keynotes coming second at 32%. This year we built the conference programme around the case studies, so this result bears out that intention. We were also keen to have two strong keynote sessions, and it’s good to see that people responded well to that approach.
Which type of content session did you find least enjoyable and/or useful?
Our single panel session was the least popular of the content types, and it was at the end of day one so many delegates may have had information fatigue by that point.
We were quite surprised that the agile tools sessions and deep dives both had several detractors too. After previous conferences, the interactive elements have always been very popular. We’ll be looking at this in more detail for future events.
Most favourite and least favourite sessions:
Our two keynotes, and the workshop session on HR were the most popular sessions by quite a margin.
The least popular ones were the panel (which aligns with the graph above), one of the workshop sessions and one of the case studies.
Interestingly, all of the most favourite sessions were mentioned by at least one respondent as their least favourite session. A good reminder that we can’t make everyone happy in the same way at the same time..!
How satisfied were you with the content topics?
Over 90% of participants were either slightly or very satisfied with the content topics. From the additional comments, we had several requests to focus more on business agility topics rather than project management and traditional IT-based agile.
How satisfied were you with the speakers?
88% of respondents said they were slightly or very satisfied with the speakers. That’s a good response, but we want to do more here and will work get this percentage up as a key quality marker.
How satisfied were you with the facilitators?
94% of respondents said they were either slightly or very satisfied with the facilitators. When facilitated deep dives take up so much of the programme, facilitators can really make or break an event. Thank you to all of our facilitators for working hard to create a great learning experience.
How satisfied were you with the agile tools hosts?
91% said they were satisfied (either slightly or very) with the agile tools hosts. These sessions are a key way for us to provide smaller-group interactive learning, so we’re glad to see they were well received. Thank you to all the tools hosts who gave their time to us. From additional comments, it seems many would have liked the sessions repeated so that delegates could have attended more than one table. This has been noted and it was something that we ran in the past, perhaps we’ll look at this format again in the future.
How satisfied were you with the overall event organisation?
98% of respondents said they were slightly or very satisfied with the overall organisation of the event. Our organising team are extremely pleased to hear that! Of course, we’re also taking on board the comments from anyone who was slightly dissatisfied as well. There’s always room to improve.

If there was one thing you could change about the Agile Business Conference, what would it be?
Suggestions for improvement fall into a few different areas:
o Shorter presentations
o Mixing interactive and speaking sessions across both days
o Schedule to allow delegates to attend more than one tools session
o Better time management
o More business focused, less IT and project management
o More hands-on learning
o Better structure to discussions
o More content from practitioners rather than consultants
o Focus on the future of agility
We’re reviewing these in more detail and looking at where and how we can improve.
We were pleased with the quality of the conference in both content and organisation, and delighted that most people found it enjoyable and useful.
Now is the time for us to start looking at next year, and we’re looking at the feedback and suggestions received to help us plan ahead.
