The Consortium's Head of Events, Jenny Bailey, answers your four most burning questions about the 2019 Agile Business Conference.

1. What is the theme?

The Case for Business Agility

Rarely has the Case for Business Agility been so clear. From lean management to failing fast; from disciplined agile to agile procurement – every concept, every principle, every element of organisational performance is being drawn toward the mindset and behaviours that characterise Business Agility, so these elements will be discussed at the conference.

2. Who can we meet?

300 practitioners and decisions makers across two full days of content and networking including:

  • two incredible keynotes, sharing their transformation experience of massive agile change:

o   Lisa Smith – Former executive of Duke Energy one of the largest electric power holding companies in the US, providing electricity to 7.7 million retails customers in six states

o   Michael Saunders – Agile and DevOps Lead at Lloyds Banking Group PLC, where he is currently helping to deliver agile transformation as part of a £3 billion investment into the company’s colleagues and technology

  • Nine case studies from practitioners, executives and thought leaders including stories and executive representation from: Bank of Ireland, AT&T, Three UK, Aviva, Albert Heijn and Land Rover Jaguar amongst others.
  • Collaborative workshop linking Agile Procurement, Agile Culture, Beyond Budgeting and Agile HR, presented by thought leaders in their field.
  • Hands-on, small group, agile tools sessions.
  • Speakers Q&As and facilitated deep-dive discussions with your peers.
  • Open space/lean coffee session with Dan Terhosrt-North and friends.

3. What can we learn?

Depending on where you are with your agile journey, whether you’re a Scrum Master, working in delivery, product, solutions or technical, knowing the agile mindset and the culture is vital to the success of your work.

At the Agile Business Conference 2019, we provide a single forum for everyone interested in the effective application of agile. Together with your peers, you can gain a greater understanding of the concepts of Business Agility and hear first-hand accounts of how transformations have been achieved and what challenges were presented and how these were overcome.

This year’s conference will have no tracks, instead there will be one large room focusing on Business Agility across different perspectives: Executives,Thought-Leaders, and Practitioners, followed by smaller facilitated deep dives.

4. What can we do?

If you haven’t already purchased your tickets than this is a must! Make full use of the group booking discount and arrange for your colleagues to come along too for a saving of 20%. Then you can fully participate and immerse yourself in the ABC19 experience.

With a supportive and enthusiastic agile community to meet, you can fully participate, engage, share, learn and network your way through the conference.

You’ll be able to take part and contribute your ways of working and experiences with like-minded peers, taking an active role in the Q&As, the Deep Dives, the Agile Tools Sessions, the Workshop, the Lean Coffee Session, as well as hearing from some of the best in the business.

Through this experience, your own agile journey will be energised as you will have fresh tools and an understanding of how to progress any project concern you may be facing currently.

Come along with those questions you need answers to, and I guarantee you’ll be able to find someone who has the answers for you and so we can all learn together.
