The Future of Work – Debbie Dore, chief executive at APM

The last six months have seen a radical change in all our working practices and daily lives.  For some it has been a life improving experience and for others a hugely difficult time.  In this session Debbie will explore what we have learnt from this period and how as individuals, leaders and organisations we can harness the best of the last few months with the best of our previous working life.  Now is the time to move from crisis management into taking a longer term view for the future and preparing our organisations and people for future success. It will be a challenging time as we try and create a hybrid organisation that meets the needs of those just starting their career as well as those who are well established and comfortable with what they have achieved identifying new skills that we will all need.


Debbie Dore – Bio

Debbie joined APM in 2015 and held the roles of chief commercial officer and chief operating officer before becoming CEO in 2018. She is responsible for leading the organisation through a period of change, including establishing it as a chartered body and developing the reputation of project management as a profession of value.

Debbie’s career journey has seen her work for Thames Television, Oxford University Press and as a member of the board at Swets Information Services, delivering global transformation projects across sales, IT and customer service. Debbie has also served as a non-executive director for UKSG, a membership organisation connecting the knowledge community, and as a volunteer for Inspiring Future Careers.

Having had responsibility for teams in 25 countries, Debbie has a proven track record in leading people through change and development, and using technology to drive continuous improvement. She says the most important attributes in her role as CEO are being open to learning new things, listening to people’s views and having the confidence to do things differently.
