Jenny BaileyEach month our Head of Content, Abi Walker, will be interviewing a member of the Agile Business Consortium community. To kick start our monthly spotlight interviews, we have Jenny Bailey.

How long have you been working for Agile Business Consortium? Almost four wonderful years!

What's your current job title? Head of Corporate Relations

How would you describe your role to a child? I talk to people, plan things and make a difference hopefully!

Before working at the consortium, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had? I volunteered and helped to run a request show at a hospital radio station in Surrey.

What’s the first thing you do when you start the workday? Say hello to my colleagues and try to bring my best self to work.

What Agile techniques do you use in your day to day life? Use post-its and magnets on the fridge and run a Kanban board using the titles: To Do, Working On and Done – so satisfying when you move stuff into the last column.  I practice this method with my children too, from little things like getting the house moving in the mornings particularly on school days and getting homework done etc..  Never procrastinate and accept that good ideas can come from anywhere, and the more diverse people there are in this world the better.

What do you enjoy doing out of work? Family life, days out and trying something new.  Love the variety of life as I feel it energizes me.  Love getting away from it all and walking in the countryside/outdoors in all types of weather!  Another great passion of mine is music and singing. Life wouldn’t be life without it!

Tell us a random fact about you?  I was born with a hole in my heart.  Had the operation when I was four years old, I’m one of the lucky ones.

What is your motto or personal mantra? I have a positive outlook on life and believe that in every situation there is a positive viewpoint – so every cloud does have a silver lining and you really can make a difference to your day by changing your attitude.

We have this motto pinned up on a board at home and for my kids it’s really taught them a lot.  We actually turned it into a tune:

" I can do, I will do, I will do, I can,

We will do, we can do, we will do, - We can! "

That last bit gets shouted as you can imagine!

Recommended book? The Secret, although I’m finding more all the time… Currently reading What’s your Moonshot by John Sanei.

With that kind of experience, there is no surprise that Jenny hosts the Consortium's webinars! You can view all of Jenny's webinars here.
